Asymptotically optimum tests for decentralized change detection

چکیده
Assuming that sensors have full local memory, we introduce a novel test for the problem of decentralized change detection that is asymptotically optimum. According to our proposed scheme, sensors perform locally repeated SPRTs and communicate, asynchronously, their one-bit decisions to a fusion center. The fusion center in turn uses the sequentially acquired information to perform a CUSUM test in order to decide whether a change took place or not. We prove that the average detection delay of the proposed test differs from the optimum centralized CUSUM test only by a constant. This fact suggests order-2 asymptotic optimality as compared to existing schemes that are optimal of order-1.

Asymptotically Optimal Quickest Change Detection in Distributed Sensor Systems
In the standard formulation of the quickest change-point detection problem, a sequence of observations, whose distribution changes at some unknown point in time, is available to a decision maker, and the goal is to detect this change as quickly as possible, subject to false alarm constraints. In this paper, we study the quickest change detection problem in the setting where the information avai...
متن کاملAsymptotically Optimal Methods for Sequential Change-Point Detection
This thesis studies sequential change-point detection problems in different contexts. Our main results are as follows: • We present a new formulation of the problem of detecting a change of the parameter value in a one-parameter exponential family. Asymptotically optimal procedures are obtained. • We propose a new and useful definition of “asymptotically optimal to firstorder” procedures in cha...
متن کاملGeneral Asymptotic Bayesian Theory of Quickest Change Detection
The optimal detection procedure for detecting changes in independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) sequences in a Bayesian setting was derived by Shiryaev in the 1960s. However, the analysis of the performance of this procedure in terms of the average detection delay and false alarm probability has been an open problem. In this paper, we develop a general asymptotic change-point detectio...
متن کاملSuboptimal Properties of Page’s Cusum and Shiryayev-roberts Procedures in Change-point Problems with Dependent Observations
We construct a simple counterexample to the conjectures of Pollak (1985) and Yakir, Krieger and Pollak (1999), which state that Page’s CUSUM procedure and the Shiryayev-Roberts procedure are asymptotically minimax optimal for dependent observations. Moreover, our example shows that the close relationship between open-ended tests and change-point detection procedures no longer holds for dependen...
متن کاملOptimal and Asymptotically Optimal Cusum Rules for Change Point Detection in the Brownian Motion Model with Multiple Alternatives∗
This work examines the problem of sequential change detection in the constant drift of a Brownian motion in the case of multiple alternatives. As a performance measure an extended Lorden’s criterion is proposed. When the possible drifts, assumed after the change, have the same sign, the CUSUM rule, designed to detect the smallest in absolute value drift, is proven to be the optimum. If the drif...
